Eboue gets lifeline from former club, After being broke

Some form of help is already coming the way of Ivorian football star, Emmanuel Eboue, as one of his former clubs, Galatasaray, has offered him a coaching job.

The gesture is to help Eboue pick up the pieces of his life after a harrowing experience in which he even contemplated suicide.

Eboue, who played football at its peak, slept in a palatial home and drove expensive cars, recently disclosed he is bankrupt after a bitter divorce battle with his ex-wife.

He played for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side between 2004 and 2011.

Rooney gets two-year driving ban

 

Former England captain, Wayne Rooney, has bagged a two-year driving ban and has also been ordered to perform 100 hours of unpaid community work after pleading guilty to drink-driving charges in court on Monday.

The Everton striker apologised for his unpardonable behaviour following his sentencing by a court in northern England for being nearly three times over the drink-drive limit while his pregnant wife and their three sons were on holiday.

Stockport Magistrates’ Court was told a breathalyzer test showed Rooney’s alcohol level was 104 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath.

Germany gets new President

Former German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has been elected on Sunday as the nation’s 12th president since World War II.

The 61-year-old Steinmeier was backed in his bid for the largely ceremonial post of president by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling coalition.

Voting took place in a secret ballot among the 1,260-member Federal Convention, comprising lawmakers and leading community figures.
