Trump wants death penalty, ‘strongest punishment’ for terrorists


Individuals, convicted of terrorism charges, deserve “the strongest penalty allowed by law,” including death penalty, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday.

On Monday, a man detonated a bomb inside a New York City subway passageway near the Port Authority Bus Terminal, injuring three people.

The perpetrator sustained wounds in the explosion.

Authorities said the explosion was a terrorism-related attack.

ECOWAS Court orders Nigerian govt to pay $75,000 to family of dead military cadet


The ECOWAS Court of Justice has ordered the Nigerian government to pay $75, 000 to the family of a deceased cadet of the Nigerian army, Elshadai Kwasu, for alleged violation of the deceased right to life.

The deceased, a 19-year-old military cadet, died during the conduct of a waterman-ship training in April 2015.

Following his death, the late cadet’s father, Danladi Kwasu, approached the court to demand the invocation of relevant sections of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights on the grounds of alleged violation of his child’s right to life.

Linkin Park lead singer, Chester Charles Bennington is dead

American singer, songwriter and lead act of Nu metal rock band, Linkin Park, Chester Charles Bennington, is dead.

The 41-year-old was found lifeless inside his private residence on Thursday morning in the Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles.

His housekeeper discovered his body around 9:00 a.m.

The death, which was confirmed by the Los Angeles County coroner, is being treated as a suspected suicide case.

About 39 dead in Istanbul nightclub attack

About 39 people have been killed and 40 injured in a New Year’s Eve attack on a nightclub in central Istanbul, Turkish officials have said

“This is a terrorist attack,” city governor Vasip Sahin said at the scene outside one of the city’s best known clubs, in Istanbul’s Ortakoy neighbourhood on the European bank of the Bosporus.

He said that at 1.15 a.m. on Sunday (2215 GMT Saturday) an attacker had forced his way into Club Reina, where between 700 and 800 people were reportedly celebrating, by shooting dead a police officer and a civilian at the entrance.

Two dead, 4 injured in U.S. Thanksgiving Day shooting


Two persons were killed and four were injured in a shooting at a Thanksgiving Day football tournament in Kentucky on Thursday.

The shooting occurred at Shawnee Park, where a youth football tournament called the Juice Bowl is held every year on Thanksgiving Day.

Louisville Metro Police said officers responded to a call of multiple shootings at Shawnee Park on Thursday afternoon.
