Dozens killed in an attack on Shiite cultural center in Afghanistan

 

Dozens of people were killed when suicide bombers set off multiple explosions at a Shiite cultural center in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Thursday.

At least 41 people died and 84 were wounded when an unknown number of attackers set off an explosion outside the center in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood in the west of the city, authorities said. The militants stormed the two-story building before setting off other devices in the basement.

U.S. drops largest non-nuclear bomb on Afghanistan

The United States military has dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb on an area in eastern Afghanistan controlled by Isis-affiliated militants.

This is the first time the over 10,000 kilogramme bomb which was designed by the US Air Force in 2002 will be used in combat, the Pentagon stated.

The bomb also commonly known as the “Mother of All Bombs (MOAB)” was dropped on a network of tunnels used by the militants in Achin district, Nangarhar Province close to the border with Pakistan.

Germany plans to deport 12,000 to Afghanistan

A document from German government has revealed that more than 12,000 Afghan migrants to Germany are to be sent back to their home country.

The document reviewed on Thursday in Berlin said that the repatriation has become imperative because large parts of Afghanistan are considered safe.
